Gold Miners Inn, Ascend Hotel Collection

It was such a pretty room! But unfortunately the beds were too soft 😕 And we experienced an odd power out when we woke up, that lasted a few hours. Unfortunately not very good allergy friendly. I am both gluten- & lactose intolerant, so there was not a lot of options for me 😕 And with the short power out, the staff didn’t keep the breakfast out for too long, but that’s understandable since there was no power at the time 😅 The power did come back mid breakfast though, but by then the staff had packed it all away. Other than those small things, apart from the not so big food allergy friendly part, then it was a great hotel over all and I could see myself stay there again 😁 Great location! Especially during the time I was there in October!! Those colors though! 🤩

One of the best hotels we’ve ever stayed at! We stayed multiple weekends this past summer and the experience was wonderful every time! The staff is very friendly and has even recognized us. On our first stay, we attended happy hour in the lobby (they give you two drink vouchers each), and we met some lovely fellow guests and exchanged travel stories. The rooms are clean, spacious, and well-maintained, and the air conditioning is such a relief in the summer (especially coming from the Bay Area where AC isn’t common). The complimentary breakfast is the best we’ve had at a hotel - well-seasoned and a great assortment of options (we especially like the biscuits and gravy, sausage, and french toast sticks). The hotel is also dog-friendly, and our pup loves the biscuits at the front desk. The location is perfection - your walking distance to shops, restaurants, a grocery store, and a movie theater in Grass Valley. We recommend Alloro Cucina Italiana right next door for fantastic homemade pasta and cheesecake. Nevada City’s historic district is also only a 6-minute drive away. We love the outdoors, so we spend most of our time in Tahoe National Forest at nearby Donner Lake, Truckee, Tahoe City, and the Yuba River during our stays. Honestly, we have no complaints at all about this hotel other than that it can get very pricey, especially it seems in the later summer months. We love this area so much, and it always feels awesome to head back to Gold Miners Inn at the end of a long day of hiking, swimming in the Yuba, and grabbing dinner in town.
